Sourcing for energy & biomass
Biomass fuel buyers are buying energy per tonne, and everything in the specification traces back to that. Moisture reduces delivered energy and inflates freight cost per useful unit. Ash creates disposal and cleaning cost, and at the wrong composition it creates slagging and fouling on boiler surfaces.
Because the material is a processing residue, supply follows the upstream industry's season rather than the buyer's schedule. Managing that gap — through tolerance bands, advance scheduling and honest seasonal warnings — is most of the work.
Feedstock traceability is increasingly written into the specification rather than treated as a bonus. Where that applies, it changes which suppliers can be considered, and it is far harder to retrofit after contracting.

Seasonal moisture swing
Open-stored material rises in moisture through the rainy season. We agree tolerance bands and a price mechanism in advance rather than renegotiating mid-schedule.
Foreign matter from handling
Out-of-spec ash results frequently trace to material picked up in storage and transfer, not to production. Yard checks catch it while it is still cheap.
Basis confusion between offers
Quotes on different moisture bases are not comparable. We state the basis on every figure so a like-for-like comparison is possible.
